Dr. Banuelos is originally from Chicago. He received his medical degree from the University of Guadalajara Medical School in Guadalajara Mexico in 1979. He completed a year of internship and a year of social service in Mexico before returning to Chicago, where he was a research fellow at the University of Illinois for two years, presenting  six research papers at the Society for Gynecologic Investigation and the Endocrine Society. He completed a four year residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Mercy Hospital affiliated with the University of Illinois in 1987.

From mid 1987 to mid 1991 Dr. Banuelos was Teaching Chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Hinsdale Hospital as part of Hinsdale's Family Practice Residency, while in private practice.  Dr. Banuelos is Board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology. He is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the Society of Advanced Pelvic Surgeons, and the Society for Advanced Laparoendoscopic Surgeons. He is married to a practicing dentist and has two children.

Dr. Banuelos is a world traveler having visited such places as Africa, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and Mexico.  He is fluent in Spanish.  Dr. Banuelos' straightforwardness is a driving force as both a physician and a businessman.  His approach to medicine is very organized and concise with sparks of humor mixed in.  He has a passion for sports such as basketball, boating, and golf.  Dr. Banuelos is a sympathetic and caring physician who involves the entire family in the patient's medical care.
